COURSE OVERVIEW

This course will take a deep dive into the practice of oil pulling for oral benefits. Oil pulling dates back 3,000-5,000 years with roots in ancient Ayurvedic medicine and has been gaining popularity in western cultures since the 1990s. Today, there is a large volume of research articles and systemic reviews that demonstrate the mechanism of action and beneficial oral effects of a variety of oils used in the practice of oil pulling. While oil pulling does not replace brushing and flossing, it can be used as an adjunct to reduce bacteria, biofilm formation, inflammation, and halitosis with little to no side effects. Join us for an hour-long journey into the practice of oil pulling to learn how your patients can benefit from the natural ingredients present in oil pulling products.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

After completing this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the mechanism of action involved with oil pulling and its effects in the oral cavity.
  • Compare and contrast the types of oils and chemicals used in the practice of oil pulling and identify the varying benefits.
  • Incorporate oil pulling as a recommendation to your dental hygiene care plan.
