COURSE OVERVIEW
Years ago, restorative-based implant dentistry revolutionized the field to allow for more predictable implant treatment including full arch, immediate loading, and aesthetic cases.
However, 1-2 out of 10 implants are still reported to be associated with bone loss (peri-implantitis). This webinar will focus on surgery and restorative technology to incorporate a health and maintenance driven implant outlook. A systemic approach towards achieving and maintaining healthy tissues around implants starts before implant selection, surgical planning or restorative design and continues with evidenced-based approaches to implant maintenance and strategies for management and regeneration of peri-implant defects.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After completing this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Identify patients at risk for peri-implantitis based on systemic health, case histories, behavioral, and anatomical factors.
- Incorporate key implant selection and materials options in surgical and restorative planning which set the stage for maintaining healthy bone and soft tissues around implants.
- Describe how a long-term implant maintenance program can be implemented to proactively reserve the course of peri-implantitis early using various patient management, restorative, surgical, regenerative, or laser-based options.
COURSE SPEAKER
Dr. Favagehi graduated from Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry (Virginia Commonwealth University) in 1994. He completed his specialty training in periodontics & Dental implant surgery at The Ohio State University in 1997 where he also received a Master of Science degree in Oral Biology and received a research award for groundbreaking research on surgical wound healing. Dr. Favagehi has been an adjunct faculty member (Clinical Assistant Professor) at the Dept. of Periodontics (VCU School of Dentistry) for 24 years. In 2011, he received a Teaching Award from the American Academy of Periodontology. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Society, American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) and Academy of Osseointegration (AO). He is a Director of the Osseointegration Foundation and has served on various committees with AAP, and AO including chairman of Research Submissions Committees (AAP, and AO) and Editor of Academy News (Academy of Osseointegration). Dr. Favagehi serves on the ADA's Council on Dental Education and Licensure Committee on Recognition of Dental Specialties and Special Areas Within General Dentistry.
